Authentication and Preservation

Because of the size, breadth and diversity of its holdings, ATCC invests considerable resources and effort in the development of authentication procedures. Using recent scientific findings and advanced technology, ATCC works relentlessly to develop rapid and accurate authentication methods.

ATCC routinely performs authentication tests for purity, sterility and molecular characterization during acquisition and production as part of its quality control processes. A wide range of genomics, proteomics and immunology approaches are also applied to the collection to obtain broad information about the molecular and cellular aspects of each microorganisms and cell line deposited at ATCC.

ATCC constantly pursues the development of new methods for an efficient preservation of our authentic organisms and cell lines.
